It's been another week of grueling seminars and practices. Glad to see much of the effort translating into fruitful results but 14 more weeks until the semester officially ends!
One great highlight of this week is MAF 2014!!! By 5pm yesterday, the fatigue from vetting and practices (and carrying the super heavy chairs) was urging me to end my day already, but some part of me wanted to go back to HCJC this year. After a tug-of-war between nuaing in my room or meeting old friends, I decided on the latter. Partly because I haven't step foot in HCJC for soooooo damn long (OK, I went for Dancenight, but that was really just the auditorium...) After 2 hours of search in the sea of juniors, seniors, alumni, parents and teachers. We manage to find Mr. Nah and a couple of our classmates. As all adults do, we spend much of our time catching up with each other, and reminiscing the good old times when A levels was the only concern. It was so amusing when we accused Mr. Nah of lying to us about university being a lot easier than JC in unison. It may have been true in a sense that that nobody is gonna give a damn whether you attend lecture, tutorials or seminars but nobody mentioned about the consequences. Nothing is ever compulsory in university as long as you are willing to pay the price. I did pay to enjoy my first year to the fullest, with two full semesters of bad grades. Tremendous amount of self discipline is required to juggle everything in university, but it definitely forces you to learn and grow as a person. I guess knowing that life gets harder is also part of the growing up process.
Going back to JC reminds me of the old saying, that time passes faster as you grow older. It's true, because we are so occupied with concert dates, meeting deadlines after deadlines, midterms and finals. Before we realize it, two good years is gone. This trip back to HCJC has been a timely reminder, that in the midst of all the commitments in university, we should definitely squeeze some time out to catch up with old friends before they drift even further than they already had. Hope to see you guys soon!
