It's been like 1.5 months since I last updated. Pretty surprised at my blogviews during the mid-July period but I guess most visits are from fellow Economics majors and incoming FASS freshmen looking for more details on the economic modules! Haha
The past month has been very tiring yet fulfilling. Started working for Platypus Food Bar @ NUS since mid-June and met lots of awesome people there! Supposed to have dinner with them a few hours earlier but unfortunately it was cancelled last minute when my assistant manager was called for duty at the China Square outlet! The past 6 weeks as barista cum service crew has taught me so many things that school can never teach, including customer service, decision making and social skills. It was also an awesome experience meeting so many new friends/colleagues from such diverse background, and see things in different perspectives! Really had a great time there :)
Also, Shut Up And Dance (SUAD) 2014 preparation has been insane! Half the item's choreography in 4 practices is a just, wow. Thankfully, we perform decently for first vetting yesterday, although we can definitely do better in the upcoming months! There was a tinge of regret of dropping the awesome Tinkywazzy item, but we don't always get what we want in life.
Academically, I've not fully decided on my 6 modules for the upcoming semester. Confirmed modules are EC3322, EC3333, EC4101 and ST3131! Considering EC4102 but the workload seems to be higher for this semester. Also, I hope to take QF4102 on S/U basis but seems like it's not up for bidding, hence I might take either MA3264, MA3238 or CL1101E in replacement. I would consider EC3551 if my RA application is unsuccessful! Exposure to research prior to thesis-writing would be advantageous and also give me a glimpse of what academia is like.
The past month has also post some challenges to my relationship with both of us working/on attachment, and hence unable to spend as much time as we do during school term, especially when baby is flying off in early August to Copenhagen for a 6-month exchange, but I'm glad that we managed to squeeze all the little time we have out for each other, and I really do cherish these precious moments. The upcoming 6 months will be challenging, with both of us half the globe apart. She will have to adapt to her new, cold environment that I'm so envious of, and I will have to be a master juggler between heaver academic workload and the need to improve my CAP, increasing dance commitments and research/barista work, but ultimately I know we can pull this through. Love you baby, I'm already looking forward to our Scandinavian winter trip :)
All in all, my goal for the upcoming semester is to maintain the delicate balance of academics, dance, work and LDR, making it the most challenging yet memorable semester in my undergraduate journey!
