The past 2 days have been filled with adventures that left me too exhausted to update my blog until now. 2 days ago, a bunch of us A Blockers decided that we need to meet up in the summer and so, without much concrete plans, we headed out to VivoCity and Sentosa for the night.
The dinner at Sentosa was one with some hassle, looking through restaurants, eliminating for tastes, preferences and queue lengths. Eventually we decided on Kim Gary's, a Hong Kong style cafe similar to Xin Wang, with slight variations in the menu. My choice for the night was Supreme Curry Cheese Baked Chicken Chop with Rice ($12.90), which I think is a tad too expensive because it's really quite normal. The Hong Kong Milk Tea ($3.00) was a bit expensive too, and it did not leave me with much impression. Pretty average restaurant but it was the one with the shortest queue.
The night continued with the bunch of us heading down to Palawan Beach for the usual drinking and chilling night. Unlike, the usual A Block initiation, this is an all-senior thing (since the freshies are all going to year 2 now) with little planning. It was a good night out, filled with fun and occasional HTHT along the way. Wow, time really flies, and most of us are already on our way to our third year. It just seems like yesterday when we all met each other after orientation, through dance and getting close over last summer. Got back to hall at about 530am, haven't had such a late night for a while.
Woke up at 12pm the next morning, or afternoon, and hence was 30 minutes late meeting my girlfriend. It's so rare to have such an understanding girlfriend that didn't make too much fuss about my persistently failing punctuality. Love you baby. Had Quiznos for the first time, and the 12-inch Zesty Grilled Steak ($13.90) was pretty satisfying. Spent the rest of the day in Suntec Convential Hall watching Super 24. 5 hours long, but it managed to capture my fullest attention through out. All the teams were amazing, especially the open category. North Vista Secondary School managed to clinch the gold for the secondary category, and I was really wow-ed by their awesome choreography, teamwork, blockings and energy! What amazed me more is how they managed to top their previous performance in the tie-breaking battle against Temasek Secondary School.
The competition in the open category doubled up, and Blast! Alumni Movement (BAM) was the opening team, and performed really well despite the stress of being the first up on stage. It was amazing that y'all can easily put up such a good show with such a tight and difficult schedule with everyone working. Blast! To Glory also did a superb job, and it's wonderful to see all the familiar faces down there bringing Blast! to glory, literally, by surpassing the alumni and many other really amazing teams to clinch the 5th place.
Academy Of Nutz and D3 were soooooo perfect in their routine and energy, and I believe the judges really had a difficult time deciding the final winner when they tied in the championship round! This is one of the most intense dance competition I have seen, with 24 dancers and incredibly intricate formation and choreography for the four-sided stage. The level of creativity is just, WOW.
After 2 days of going out, it's finally time to take some domestic time and recuperate. Time to chill around and surf the net doing nothing! Yay!
